More About This Project

Korea in Two Dimensions is an ongoing personal project that seeks to show my neighborhood from a straight-on perspective. There are no “down the street” shots here, only “across the street” images.

At first glance, Seoul is a bustling metropolis that seems to blend and meld together into some incomprehensible fusion of storefronts, signs, windows, and doors. However, broken down to individual units, there is amazing diversity and distinctiveness among the business and residents of Seoul.

The purpose of this project is to bring out those distinctive qualities of a city that few people really know about but will become familiar with in the coming decades. I will show Korea not in the familiar 3D photograph, but in 2D.

If you have any questions about the project, would like to inquire about any images, or commission my artwork, please contact me at brian.haferkamp@gmail.com.

I will try to keep a loose production schedule of 2 images per week, so make sure you bookmark the site or subscribe.

About Me

My name is Brian Haferkamp and I live in Seoul, South Korea, with my wife and two daughters. I have been a photographer for almost 15 years and it is one of the joys of my life to see my images finished and displayed. There is more joy in photography for me now than at any other point. Shooting architecture and street photography is where I’m the most comfortable, and this project represents a way to pursue both of those genres simultaneously.

You can also check out more of my images and photography articles at the Photoblog Alliance, a collaborative photo blog that brings together international photographers to display and market their images and blogs. I am the founder and editor of the blog, which now has over 20 contributors from around the world. If you would like to participate in the project, or know someone who might be interested, check out the blog and submit an image for review. Submission guidelines are not strict and the blog is open to anyone who wishes to participate.
